The ISD EAL Department and Senior School Library Announce:
The 2012 ISD Senior School Short Story Writing Competition
The competition is open to all students, staff and parents at ISD. There are two main categories in each of the school's languages of instruction: Language A (native speaker) and Language B (language learner), and other languages of the community. Our languages are:
English
German
Japanese
Korean
Spanish
French
Other Languages (by request)
You are invited to submit a story in your native language from the list above, or in a foreign language, using the same list. Stories should be between 500 (minimum) and 1500 (maximum) words (Japanese and Korean 1000 to 3000 characters). The jury will accept only those entries that are submitted electronically, using the form below.
The THEME of the competition is: A HUMAN STORY FOR OUR TIMES

The deadline for entries is the end of school on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2012. Entries will be judged by a jury panel made up of ISD staff and community members.
Remember to give some thought to the following elements of writing:
Spelling, punctuation, and grammar
Interesting characters
An enjoyable plot or storyline
Realistic use of speech
