The Human Rights Council (HRC) is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations that is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe. In the following viewpoint, which was not officially released, the HRC reports on a review of Libya's human rights record. Libya itself notes its progress in human rights, including freedom of expression, freedom of religion, and women's equality.
